FIX-IT has been working hard day after day getting the new expansion project ready, he finished one of the new store fronts. (I am reminded of all those friendship bracelets that we used to make with beads. Boy would that be fun).

SAVING THE ENVIRONMENT!! BARKING AND MEOWING UP THE RIGHT TREE!!

CINDY THE EFQ (Environmental Friendly Queen) coming to you about the nice generous donation that we have made to the NATURE CONSERVANCY. Thanks to all of our return guests in 07′ that returned their X-mas card. Each card received back to the resort, we donated $5. This came up to a grand total of $755. (WOW!) This girl is all a flutter about how much people care about the environment. For further info about this organization please visit www.nature.org. Thank you to all who helped us with this donation and we look forward to further donations in the future. Please look for all the great changes that I will be coming up with for our eco-friendly resort. And now I will turn it over to Sammy and Clark for the next exciting donation.

WOOF! ROLF! AND A YELP TOO!!! This is SAMMY AND CLARK coming to you from the Humane Society in Saranac Lake where the Golden Arrow has just made a great donation to this worthy cause. Now all of our animal pals will get the great care and food to keep them going while they await for a caring and loving person to adopt them.This donation came to a howling $1,767. (PANT PANT) This is barking up our alley! Well, time to go and check out all these great pets and who knows they might have a little snack that we can devour. (MMMMM!! Rolf and Woof)

SWOOSHING DOWN THE SLOPES! SIT SPINS ON THE ICE!

Welcome to the excitement of the winter season and the great events that are coming up for the Martin Luther King holiday weekend. RICH YOUR SPORTSCASTER coming to you from the winter wonderland of Lake Placid. Have we got some great events coming up for all ages in the form of downhill skiing and figure skating. (I am getting chills from talking about it)!

Coming for the weekend of Janaury 18-20th the WORLD CUP FREESTYLE competition will be taking place. Athletes from all over will be showing their mogul skills down the slopes of Whiteface as well at the Ski Jumping Complex where the aerialists will be flipping and turning their way to possible gold. Watching these aerials is unbelieveable all the twists and turns one person can perform in the air. (I would just end up falling on my head OUCH)

Then also during that weekend the figure skaters will be showing their talents at the ISI FIGURE SKATING COMPETITION at the Herb Brooks Arena in the Olympic Center. Young skaters from around the regions will be joining us to show their spins and jumps at this exciting competition. See the glitter and perfection as they glide across the ice. HIP HIP HOORAY!!! HIP HIP HOORAY!!!

EFQ (ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY QUEEN) bringing everyone the upmost exciting and earth friendly promotion that our resort has achieved. I am talking about the Audubon International Green Leaf Eco-Rating. We have achieved the next level in leafiness and now are rated FOUR LEAVES by this prestigious group. (boy is this girl just trembling with excitement from this green development.)

Thanks to our great efforts of putting in the Green Roof in the Spring of 2008 and all the eco-friendly changes in the resort; we have received this next level!!
For all of you who do not know what a green roof is, here is a little explanation:

A Green Roof is a living roof. It is a roof literally covered with soil and plants to create a living breathing space. The benefits are many. In addition to looking beautiful, it will nearly double the life of the roof underneath it. It creates energy savings by acting as a super insulator, keeping the building warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It also acts as a storm water management system, catching pollutants as they drain off the roof. This is especially important for us since we are located directly on the lake. The Oxygen released by the plants will help the hotel reduce its carbon footprint. We are growing local plant & herb species. The herbs will be used by Charlie’s in their meal preparation. Hopefully it will also create a nice environment for birds and insects.

This is just exciting and we are now looking to go to the top level of 5 leaves by the year 2009. I got to get this girl into gear and think of how to reach this next level and show that our resort cares about our everchanging and lovely environment. If anyone knows of possible ways that we can improve our eco-friendly resort, please drop us a line as we will take all ideas into account.

Hey everyone, RICH YOUR NEWSCASTER bringing our friends and guests NORTH OF THE BORDER a very important update.

If you plan on traveling to the US in the future it is now required that you have a driver’s license as proof of identity as well as proof of citizenship such as a birth certificate or passport.

These regulations have been put into effect as of 2008 and are there for everyone’s safety and protection. (I know it can be frustrating and aggravating waiting for a long time at the border…I pull my hair out everytime LOL). But it is good to know that the governments are looking out for everyone’s safety.

Well, this guy just wanted to make you aware and drop this very important information for when you are traveling to visit us at our resort and Lake Placid. For further information about this regulation please visit www.CBP.gov and details as to when new requirements will go into effect.

I am outta here and will bring you the new sporting updates in the near future as many winter hockey games, ski and ice skating events are approaching Lake Placid for this great and wonderful winter season. (TIME FOR THIS BOY TO HIT THE SLOPES AND ENJOY ALL THIS GREAT SNOW!!)
