Hello again everyone! RICH YOUR SPORTSCASTER out enjoying a leisure bike ride out through the Adirondacks and down to Whiteface Mountain. The sky is finally blue and it is a beaming 80 degrees outside today. Just passed a few fellow athletes out training for the Ironman triathlon that is coming up very soon in July. (oh another impolite vechicle beeping loudly to get out of the way…even though we are in the bike lane of traffic). Please everyone out there in your vechicles be a little patient with our fellow bicyclists and Ironman triathletes. They are just training for an important race and are obeying all traffic rules. (somtimes we have to go into traffic to go around something, lets all enjoy the road together) We need to support them and this great event that is in Lake Placid every year.

Now back to the reason I am here! Pedaling ever so vigoursly down to Whiteface (my legs are ready to fall off…hehe). We at the Golden Arrow would like to DOUBLE DOG DARE U TO MOUNTAIN BIKE WHITEFACE! That is right, you have skiied her slopes in the Winter, now it is time to test your stamina and skill on the 27 mountain biking trails. Mountain biking in Lake Placid offers a variety for everyone, from the gentle crusier to the extremist. (Believe me I have the blisters to prove it…oh yes it is well worth it). So, I shall now turn it over to our very own MS. DEAL MAKER who has a great package to enjoy this great ride!

As Rich said, I have our DOUBLE DOG DARE U MOUNTAIN BIKE DEAL that you will want to partake in. During the week from Sunday-Thursday for the low price of $99 per person, you can ride your mountain bike up and down the trails of Whiteface Mountain. This package includes an overnight stay for two at the Golden Arrow, two one-day all access passes to mountain bike Whiteface and a nice cool refreshing beverage after a long ride at either the T-BAR or RUMOR’S NIGHTCLUB. (mmm…that sounds good now, wonder if Mr. Fix-It is around).

I did not leave out the weekend traveler. For Friday and Saturday night, I have come up with a package that is $199 per person. This includes 2 nights lodging, a one-day all access mountain bike pass for two and and drink to recover after a long day of riding. What do you think of when the words Ski Jumping, Luge and Biathlon Shooting are used? (no not a wild and crazy fraternity party…lol)! These are all events that take place at the Winter Olympics! What better way to celebrate the upcoming Olympics in 2009, then to have our very own OLYMPIC DAY in Lake Placid.

RICH YOUR SPORTSCASTER at the OLYMPIC JUMPING COMPLEX on site where this eventful day will take place. This event will be happening this upcoming weekend on Saturday June 20th from 1pm to 3pm. The best thing about Olympic Day is it is completely FREE!!! That’s right the Ski Jumping Complex is opening this special day to all patrons absolutely free. This event will be to support the 2016 CHICAGO OLYMPIC DREAM BID for the Olympics.

Okay! I know enough chitter chatter, what is happening at this event. The first 1000 people will receive a 2016 Chicago Bid Bracelet and the Ceremonial Chicago Flag will be presented to Lake Placid. All through these 2 hours the great people at ORDA will be offering everyone a change to try out the luge sled and there sharp shooting skills in the biathlon. The daredevil athletes that perform Aerial Jumping will be practicing there flips and turns off the aerial jump into the large swimming pool below. (Yes, Winter Olympics in the summer, pretty amazing huh?) There will be great games and live musical entertainment from 2006 Olympian Lowel Bailey. To wet the appetite while you are there, BBQing will be happening as well. Defintely fun for the entire family.

The fun does not stop there! For everyone that has attended they will receive a bracelet that will entitle them to visit the LAKE PLACID WINTER OLYMPIC MUSEUM from 3pm-5pm for free! See all the great memorabilia from past Olympics held in Lake Placid. That was not enough you will also receive free admission to the SATURDAY NIGHT ICE SHOW at 7:30pm. Local and some special ice skating talent will be performing their great figure skating skills. (Whew! I am out of breath and fingers cramping from talking about all the great FREE activities to enjoy this coming Saturday).

MR. FIX-IT back as promised with some great photos of our finished lawn and beach area. It took long strenuous hours and big strains on the back(OY! are these muscles sore…need a nice relaxing deep in the adult hottub) but we have finally finished. The sod and grass are greener than ever and our stairs leading down to the beach have nice garden on both sides. The white sandy beach is looking great!!!
