Okay! As the title mentions, it is golf season in Lake Placid and the question of the hour is….Where are your golf clubs? The summer has finally kicked into gear. No rain, beautiful warm sunny days and the grass on the courses are greener than ever and waiting for you to tee off! Our three main golf courses in the area have boasted about how the rainy weather has given such green green grass that the golf balls will fly. To tie in with the summer golf season, your savings gal MS. DEAL-MAKER, wants to remind you of the two great golf packages that the Golden Arrow has to offer.

First of all we have a great midweek savings package for the month of August. This Summer Golf includes a 2 night stay in one of our Deluxe Guest rooms and you will receive 2 rounds of golf per person at either CRAIGWOOD, WHITEFACE INN OR LP CLUB MOUNTAIN COURSE. This package is for $259 per person and based on double occupancy. What a great deal!

Do not want to commit to 2 days of golf then look at our Summer Add-On Golf Package. It is that time of the year again, July is here, and that means the 11th Annual Ironman is back in Lake Placid. RICH YOUR SPORTSCASTER is live at the Olympic Speedskating Oval where the area is being transformed for this long and exciting race. Transition tents and vendors from all over the US are setting up and gearing up for an exciting Sunday. All of us in this area are glad to have all of the athletes and their families back in Lake Placid for this event.

For those of you who do not know what the Ironman is all about. Well, let me tell you it is a race that you will soon not forget (especially for all the brave souls who partake in it). You start off in Mirror Lake at 7am for the sound of the gun. Then like a flock of geese the lake is submerged with swimmers who will swim 2.5 miles. Then out of the water and time to hit the bicycle for the 112 mile bike ride through the Adirondack Mountains. If this was not enough after the bike portion, it is off for run of 26 miles, yes a full marathon. (WHEW! I am tired just speaking of it..hehe). The best part of this race is standing at the finish line and seeing the expressions of all these souls faces after this long and grueling course. During this whole race there are plenty of supporters and spectators willing these athletes to a most satisfying finish!!!

Mark your calendars for Sunday July 26th, 2009 and make your way to LP to support this great event and the participants. It is great feeling that you will not want to miss. Hey, feel free to volunteer while you around, the Lake Placid village could use all the support from everyone! Okay! It is almost that time of the year again for our yearly CANAM RUGBY TOURNAMENT in Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. Time for them to break out the old rugby ball and tackle and rumble all over the fields! This event will be held from Friday July 31st through Sunday August 2nd. Seeing that this event is still a good 3 weeks away. The Golden Arrow is wondering, where are all the players? (are you all asleep on the field or had to many frosty beverages..hehe).

Your very own lovely and sometimes likes to get down and dirty with a great rugby game, MS. DEAL-MAKER has decided to intice you into lodging with us at the Golden Arrow Resort. July 4th, the day of our Independence and what better way to spend it then to join the awesome festivites in Lake Placid. RICH YOUR NEWSCASTER back once again at the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort in beautiful downtown Lake Placid. Are you planning any special events for this celebration weekend?Well I wanted to inform everyone about some of the major events and activites that are happening in the area this 4th of July Weekend. Tis the weekend for BBQ’s, fireworks and of course that occasional frosty beverage (my fav..hehe).

First of all still going on down at the Lake Placid Horseshow Grounds is the I LOVE NY HORSESHOW. This event has equestrians from all over the states and parts of the world to showcase their horse jumping talents. This will be going on everyday this weekend from early in the morning to the latter part of the afternoon. (Watch where u are stepping cause you never know what kinda of surprise you may find….lol just kidding).

Switching over to downtown Lake Placid at the outside Olympic Speed Skating Oval there will be the annual I LOVE BBQ festival. Culinary geniuses from all over the US and Canada will be grilling and marinating great BBQ food. They will be competeing for cash prizes and of course being the TOP OINKER in BBQing. What makes it even better is that the money raised by this event helps to fund the Shipman Youth Center which is a local recreation center for Lake Placid’s Youth. (MMMM!!! The food is delicious…guarantee to add a few pounds to the hips but hey it is so worth it). Don’t forget to take a stop in to this great event.

On the 4th of July, do not miss out on the myriad of events. At the Olympic Jumping Complex there is the weekly SOARING SATURDAY ski jumping competition at 1pm. Local and Olympic hopefuls will be Jumping off the 90M Ski jump onto simulated snow mats. It is so much fun to watch and cheer on your favorite. Then turning over to the Olympic Center there is the SATURDAY NIGHT FIGURE SKATING ICE SHOW at 7:30. Twirling and jumping and plenty of skating talent to enjoy. Do not forget the 4th of July parade for kids of all ages around 6-6:30 in the evening. Who knows you might see Santa and his friends from the North Pole!!! Then to finish off this great night there is the spectacular 4th of July Fireworks Display around Dusk on Mirror Lake. From past experience this colorful display is fabulous and worth the trip to Placid to watch!!!!
