As the snow in the Adirondacks begins to melt it is the perfect time to begin maple sugaring season. “New York State is the second largest producer of maple syrup in the United States, with the Adirondack Region accounting for nearly one third of the state’s production” (visitadirondacks.com). This weekend, March 16-17, and next weekend, March 23-24, are the offical Maple Weekends in the Adirondacks. There are many Sugar Houses participating in the event all over the North Country. Many are opening up their facilities for free tours so the public can see the ins and outs of making Maple Syrup.
Chef Hunt from Generations has crafted an amazing menu incorporating locally produced maple, he even has his own evaporator and is producing his very own maple syrup!! He’s open to giving demonstrations on how it works.
The Golden Arrow is also offering a Maple Mania Add-On Package that includes breakfast at Generations, a Tour of the Cornell Extension Maple Syrup Field Station, and some maple syrup to take home with you for only $25. It can be added onto your stay at any time.
Check out Generation’s Maple Menu and a list of participating Sugar Houses and Restaurants!
