DINE! DRINK! DEEELICIOUS!!!

OHHH!!! LA! LA! MADAME CUISINE is very excited to unveil the new name of our brand new restaurant that the Golden Arrow Resort has re-opened. As, of December 20th, 2009 we have opened the restaurant under a new management staff and unveiled a fresh and most delectable new menu. This gal is got goosebumps all over this body thinking of all the great flavors we are whipping up in the kitchen!!! (Just got to be careful not to be sampling everything…got to keep this girlish figure…OHH! LA! LA!)

The Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort as of December had enlisted the help of the public to name our brand new restaurant and bar. We had several great choices and ideas and finally came up with the winning names. The restaurant will be officially called GENERATIONS and was suggested by a local entrepreneur in Lake Placid. CHRIS ERICSON came up with this name and conicidentally is also the BrewMaster of the famous UBU Ale, a beer brewed locally and used in the UBU FONDUE-one of the most popular items on the menu! (This girl loves the taste of this fondue with a great pretzel…yum yum)
The Holderied family chose this great name for a many reasons. The resort is owned by the family and 3 generations have worked at the resort. Also, they have welcomed generations of families that have frequently visited the resort for many years.

The official name of the new bar/lounge inside GENERATIONS RESTAURANT is now STRAIGHT SHOT! This name was summited by RACHEL HINES AND TYLER JONES of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. This new lounge will offer an extensive wine and spirits list and some local favorite cocktails. Definetely, a must try for all of you ready to begin a fun and exciting evening in Lake Placid.

This girl would like to thank our Executive Head Chef DAVID HUNT and the General Restaurant Manager MARK CORR and the rest of the management team for coming up with a tasty and delectable menu for families and friends to enjoy for Generations! (Like the play on words…HAHA). You will find that the restaurant offers fair and reasonable prices for everyone.

Thank you again for our two contestant winners! You came up with some great names that we will use for years to come!

What is everyone waiting for? Get off that couch and pack those bags for downtown Lake Placid and the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort. Do not forget to work up that appetite! Yours truly will want to see each and everyone of our patrons enjoying a nice meal at the brand new GENERATIONS restaurant. This gal is wanted back in the kitchen…(cannot get enough of yours truly..OHHH!! LA! LA!)..to put her culinary talents to work. NEW RESTAURANT AND A NEW LEAF RATING

The staff and I (RICH YOUR NEWSCASTER) are very excited about some exciting changes that are happening at the resort. I felt that all of you avid readers about the resort would like to be filled in on this information.

We have officially made our 5 LEAF RATING with the AUDUBON SOCIETY for all of our eco-friendly and “green efforts” Our very own CINDY THE E.F.Q. has been buzzing all over the resort making sure that we have been operating at this level of a sustainable resort. She wants me to tell all the staff and everyone one of our guests THANK YOU for helping us obtain this prestigious ranking. The only resort in New York State to ever reach this level. This is all because of each and everyone of you!!!

The 2nd news is that as of DECEMBER 19th, 2009 the Golden Arrow Resort is re-opening the restaurant inside the resort (formally Charlie’s restaurant). We have hired a great top notch head chef David Hunt. Along with a brand new staff, we will be featuring a brand new delectable menu for everyone to enjoy. It will feature some of David’s signature dishes as well as affordable and great cuisine for everyone to enjoy.(cannot wait to fill up and gain a few pounds with this great new menu). Please check out our website in the future for a listing of the brand new menu or stop into the Golden Arrow’s front lobby and check out this menu. We hope that everyone will give our new restaurant a taste and bring an empty belly as you will want to sample all the great choices (of course if we did that, we might walk out 10lbs heavier but hey I like my food..lol).

Before I go, the staff at the Golden Arrow would like to thank Charlie and his staff for 3 great years of service at Charlies restaurant! The food was delicious.

ITS SNOWING! ITS SNOWING!

RICH YOUR NEWSCASTER finally back at you after a short break. Hope everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving and spent time with your family and loved ones!! Hope you did not eat too much (boy did I, think the waist gained a few inches…lol). Now that “turkey day” is over it is time to make those plans for the upcoming Holiday Season!

As of today, our first snowfall is falling in the air as I speak! Expected is 3-5 inches of snow! The news from WHITEFACE MOUNTAIN is that they will be able to start making the much needed snow and trails should be open within the next few weeks. YAY! For all of you avid skiiers just itching, to get on the slopes. The snow is finally coming….yippee!!

Now is the time to call the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort to book your ski or holiday vacation. We still have plenty of our Deluxe Guest Rooms and Suites or Specialty with fireplaces to roast those toes after a long winter day! Do not forget as of December 18th our restaurant in the Golden Arrow will be run by a new management team with exciting new options to enjoy for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We are keeping our very own MADAME CUISINE in the kitchen to whip up thoses delectable delights that all of our guests have come to enjoy.

OH! One other thing before I rush away and enjoy making a snow angel outside. Almost forgot that my very own friends, staff members of the Golden Arrow, “THE THREE CRAFTY WITCHES” have opened up their very own craft store inside the Golden Arrow’s very own ALPINE MALL. Everything is handcrafted and I am sure you will be able to find that special gift for your loved one. Please check them out, Cindy, Sunny and Amanda while you are in Downtown Lake Placid and tell them Richard sent you for your very own discount. (Sorry, girls discounts discounts…hehe…had to do it). For now everyone get that Holiday Shopping done and I look forward to meeting each and everyone in Lake Placid.

GRASS IS A GROWING GROWING GROWING!!!!

MR. FIX-IT back as promised with some great photos of our finished lawn and beach area. It took long strenuous hours and big strains on the back(OY! are these muscles sore…need a nice relaxing deep in the adult hottub) but we have finally finished. The sod and grass are greener than ever and our stairs leading down to the beach have nice garden on both sides. The white sandy beach is looking great!!!

GREAT NEW SUITE! SPACIOUS AND COZY ROOMS!

MR. FIX-IT here coming from the site of our new exciting suite that is about to be unveiled in less than a month. I know it has been a long time but I finally have got a few minutes to tell you about the improvements at the resort. My hands have been weared down to the nub preparing this brand new suite. (Literally, I think my callouses have grown callouses…lol). Anyway, per many guests request I have transformed two of our beach level rooms and combined them into one larger suite.

This exciting new suite is been dubbed the COLDEN SUITE, of course, named after one of the High Peaks in the Adirondacks. This two bedroom family suite is ideal for those who want to spend time on our private white sand beach. One bedchamber has an elegant king-size bed, a flat screen HDTV, a refrigerator, microwave, & coffee maker. The other bedroom has two queen size beds. The beds are dressed in a plush coverlet, high quality pillows, 200 thread-count sheets, & pillow-top mattresses. Each bedroom has a private glass door that opens onto Mirror Lake. The shared bath is adorned in marble complete with a glassed in multi-head shower. There is no bathtub in this room. I am hoping that you enjoy the long hard hours that have been put in to make this suite a reality. I am sure you will all enjoy nice long hours sitting out on the patio and looking at the pristine Mirror Lake.

OH! Please do not forget about the new wing of the resort and the extraordinary HAYSTACK and TABLETOP rooms.

They have been a very big hit since their unveiling this past summer 2008. (Believe me MS. DEALMAKER has been begging me to relax in Haystack’s oversized whirlpool tub…..what is a man to do…lol).

YAY! 2009 IS HERE!!!

Yes, it is hard to believe but 2009 has finally rung in. It was a very great year with all kinds of exciting events around the world and in our very own backyard in Lake Placid. RICH YOUR NEWSCASTER hopes that everyone enjoyed ringing in the New Year (I know this boy did-way too much cheer…lol).

On behalf of the Golden Arrow, I want to take this time to thank all of the patrons who have frequented our doors of the resort this year. We enjoyed each and everyone of our guests and look forward to another great year. You have helped us with many “Green” ideas for our Eco-Friendly resort and have taken them all into consideration. Our very own CINDY THE E.F.Q. has been busy organizing and implementing these ideas. The most exciting green event of the year was the instulation of our GREEN ROOF. Which many people have enjoyed this past year from the view of Charlie’s Restaurant.

Now that 2009 has begun, please check out all the great packages that MS. DEAL-MAKER has been busily working on. Just from looking at these deals they are definetely not to be missed. (We are all pulling for Ms. Deal-Maker to finally catch and snare Mr. Fix-IT….lol)

HAYSTACK!! TABLETOP!! WRIGHT PEAK!!

They have been open for about 3 months now but I figured it was time to let you all in about the great new rooms at the resort! MR. NEUTRAL is back and I have sent those silly PRO AND CON FAMILIES off on an adventure so that I could calmly tell you about these exciting new rooms. (Boy, do they drive me up the wall…shh!!! do not tell them). MR. FIX-IT and his crew had finished up right in time for the 4th of July and unveiled these new rooms to the summer and fall guests. Wow! What a huge response we have gotten over these rooms. Okay, enough chatter here are the rooms.

We have our Romantic HAYSTACK room for all of you couples who are seeking a quiet and relaxing stay. (This is now my absolute favorite room!!!)

Amazing lake views from your private balcony provides a perfect place for sunset gazing. The easy to use gas fireplace flickers longingly in front of your king size bed with a pillow top mattress. There is an over sized whirlpool tub in the main bed chamber (along with a heated towel warmer-i feel this is a great and warming touch) & a glassed in shower with a rain shower head in the bath. There is also a flat screen HDTV (not that you’ll be watching TV-or should you be). This room has been a great hit among all of our new and especially our returning guests.

Next we have for the couple who is looking for the perfect room for two with a kitchenette and not wanting a lot of wasted space, TABLETOP SUITE.

You enter into a kitchen & living room with an open layout. The kitchen has a mid-size refrigerator, stove top, microwave, sink & coffee maker. You can look across the bar area into the living room with a flat screen HDTV & sitting area. The bedroom has a king size bed and another flat screen HDTV. The bath has a whirlpool tub with jets & a separate glassed in shower. One of the three of these rooms has handicapp accessibility where it is wheelchair accessible and has a roll in shower. Yes, these Tabletop rooms are perfect for the couple not looking to spend a lot of money out eating. Where they can cook in the room and save money for other important activities (like shopping).

Finally, we have the WRIGHT PEAK ROOM for the couple looking to snuggle up in front of a warm cozy fire after a hard day of hiking or skiing.

The view from its private balcony is of the Olympic Center and the highest peaks in the Adirondack Mountains (absolutely gorgeous). The entry foyer has a refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave & some plate ware. The spacious bedroom with a king size bed and flat screened HDTV centers around a gorgeous stone, wood burning fireplace. The bath has a beautiful glassed in marble shower. As well as the other 2 rooms this has been a favorite among our guests.

Before the Pro and Con family return I just want to let you know about a new suite that will be available after the 1st of the year on the beach level. Many of you have requested this and we are giving you a 2 room suite on the beach. More about that in the future. LONG HOURS!!! TAP TAP TAP!!! NEARLY FINISHED HOORAY!!!!

Its been a long year of construction but it is winding down to a close in the next few months. MR. FIX-IT here on site at the new WEST WING where my crew have been working long and hard hours to finish. It has been taking sometime but we are ahead of schedule and the rooms will be done for everyone to enjoy in the very close future. (My hands need the rest from all the pounding and sawing and building!!! Blister city OUCH!).

Anyway I am very pleased to tell you that we will have two new different specialty rooms. First of all we have our TABLETOP KITCHENETTE SUITE which will add even more kitchenettes to our resort. There will be three in the new wing and they will consist of the following arrangement. Kitchen with counter & two stools opens to living room with partial lake views & sleeper loveseat sofa. Bedroom with one king bed. (very nice i must admit). The next room option is our HAYSTACK SPECIALTY ROOM which I am sure all of you wanting a romantic evening will enjoy. There will be 4 in total and they consist of the following arrangements: one king bed, gas fireplace, lakeside, flat screen tv visible from bed & large jetted tub surrounded by cedar & lace in room. leather chair with ottoman. (OH how romantic). In addition we will be adding some more connecting rooms for all of you larger families.

Long time no chat everyone! MR-FIX IT coming to you from our new expansion project and are things coming together and running smoothly. It has been sometime but our new store Just Bead It has opened and hopefully are other store tenants will be in shortly. We are also working on the interior of the rooms as I am speaking. We are adding some nice guest rooms and suites for everyone to enjoy. I am so excited by the progress that my guys have been putting in that hopefully by summer season these rooms will be ready for everyone to enjoy. (At least they better be or I will have to answer to the powers that be and boy would that be harsh LOL) JUST KIDDING they are great.

I hope in the next few days to have pics of some of the room progress for everyone to look at and enjoy. So, please keep posted for these exciting pics. Well, enough relaxation for this ole man or else nothing is going to get accomplished. Oh and I see Ms. Dealmaker coming around the corner. (gotta run she is always after me for a dinner or two hehe).
